Hany A. Elsawy Abdellatif
During my professional career, I have specialized in mass digitization projects and developed an early interest in OCR for Arabic and Latin early printed books. My commitment to expanding my knowledge and experience in the cultural heritage sector has been demonstrated through various roles as a visitor, volunteer, and employee. This dedication has enabled me to acquire extensive practical and theoretical expertise, particularly in the digitization of archival materials for preservation.
I possess over 19 years of experience working on digitization projects for the Bibliotheca Alexandrina and the Qatar National Library. In recognition of my expertise, I was selected in 2018 as a board member of the international ALTO XML Editorial.
Vojtěch Halama
Vojtěch Halama is Head of the Department of Coordination of Modern Collections’ Administration and Reformatting at the National Library of the Czech Republic. As such, he is responsible for selection of modern collections for digitisation in the library. He obtained his MA in Modern History at the Charles University, Prague.
Annalisa Rossi
PhD, Working at the Ministry of Culture, since 2018 manages the Soprintendenza Archivistica e Bibliografica (SAB) della Lombardia (regional office for the protection of the Archives and Libraries), after managing the SAB of Piemonte, Valle d'Aosta, Puglia, Basilicata, Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige and the State Archives of Genova and Milano. She has a wide experience in research in the field of written records and a long history in the field of the Education and Training, in the italian and in the EU area. She's engaged in spreading the awareness of the Cultural Heritage (especially Archives and Libraries) protection and enhancing as a driver of developement of communities.
Anna Cascone
Since 2013, she has been employed at the Lasallian Heritage and Research Center of the Generalate of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools in Rome. She is currently head of the Lasallian Library and Museum La Salle Rome. Since 2019, she has been part of the scientific committee of the Société Internationale Lasalliens des Archivistes (SILA), actively participating in the work of the international special groups, particularly promoting the activities of museums and libraries, and the recovery and valorization of photographic archives preserved in libraries, museums or lasallian archives around the world.
Since 2017, she has participated in all editions of the annual conference of the Italian Public History Association as a panelist, promoting PH's activities in its target community. In 2022 she was elected convenor of IFLA's SIG RELINDIAL (Relingions: Library and Dialogue), for which she edited the Italian language edition of the CARTONERA project guidelines. At her own Institute she curates and manages the archives of the Italian Pedagogical Association (As.Pe.I). Curates and manages reading literacy projects at lasallian school libraries. She combines her work and institutional commitments with historical research on the emergence of the first free schools in Modern Europe, starting with the French Petites écoles, (particularly those of Port Royal des Champs in Paris) to the period of the branching out of Lasallian schools during french and italian colonialism.
Vasiliki Gerontopoulou
Vasiliki Gerontopoulou has been working at the Onassis Foundation since 2009 as a project manager and digital programs coordinator. In 2014 she was appointed Onassis Library Coordinator. Her previous professional experience includes positions as a business consultant, scientific advisor, and independent expert across various private and public sector companies, research centers, and academic institutions. With a strong background in planning and coordinating cultural events, she also brings extensive expertise in implementing European research programs and digital projects.
She has graduated from the Department of History and Philosophy of Science and Technology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and holds a Master's degree in History of Science and Technology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the National Technical University of Athens. Her research interests revolve around the Neo-Hellenic Enlightenment (18th-19th century) and Digital Humanities.
Nikolaos Sideris
Nikos Sideris holds a Master of Science in Information Science specializing in Library Management & Organization, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Library Science and Information Systems, bringing a wealth of expertise in Library Management and Information Science. With over 11 years as a Library Manager in a private school, Nikos led initiatives to integrate library services into the school's curriculum and culture. As a Systems Librarian, he adeptly managed numerous large-scale projects across the Library, Archive, and Museum sectors. Currently serving as a Library Manager at the Onassis Library, he remains dedicated to driving innovation and excellence in advancing knowledge dissemination and information access within the rich cultural and scholarly resources housed at the Onassis Library.
Maria Cotera
Maria Cotera is a former academic librarian with a degree in library and information sciences from University of Granada, Spain. She is a Chartered Member of CILIP: the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals in the United Kingdom, and a Standing Committee Member of SCORE, the scholarly communications Section of IFLA: the International Federation of Library and Information Associations and Institutions, where she has been active for over twenty years. Since March 2022 she is Partnerships Development Manager at Figshare. Maria supports open science and responsible research by developing strategic relationships which bring Figshare data and institutional repositories to universities and research institutes across Southern and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Zainab Ajab Mohideen
Dr. Zainab Ajab Mohideen is an expert in Library Information Science, specializing in Information Systems, with significant contributions through research, publications, and presentations. Her expertise is recognized for her innovative approach and dedication to advancing knowledge and practice in her field.
Dr. Zainab has extensive experience in the IT industry as well as in academic and professional environments. She has collaborated with various prominent institutions and organizations, such as the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) as an IT Corresponding Member. She received the Exemplary Data Steward Malaysia award from the Deputy Prime Minister and successfully brought the Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT) to USM through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the recognition of USM students' skills.
Dr. Zainab has received numerous awards and recognition for her outstanding contributions in the administrative field at PPKT and USM. She was also appointed by USM Deputy Vice- Chancellor of Industry and Community Network, Prof. Dr. Azlan Amran to contribute to the development of the USM Strategic Plan 2024-2029 in the scope of data analysis. Her work continues to inspire and influence both academic and professional communities.
Edmund Balnaves
Edmund Balnaves the CEO of Prosentient Systems (Australia) and an active technologist in the library field. He is a Division Chair in the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) and past chair of the IFLA Information Technology Section. He is actively engaged in the delivery and development of library systems and Artificial Intelligence enhanced discovery for libraries. His doctoral research was in the area of systematic content reuse and metadata. His business provides cloud-based library services. His Inter-Search™ hosted services are used by over 500 libraries in Australia and the Asia Pacific region.
